God's final word in the Old Testament through His messenger Malachi points forward to the day when the Messiah, "The Sun of Righteousness" will arise with healing in His wings. Malachi is a bridge pointing straight to John the Baptist and Jesus Christ in the New Testament. In the meantime God challenged His people to live selflessly and sincerely before Him.
